New Neighbors And Touring the Area

Just last week we saw a realtor pop out of her SUV and pull the for sale sign off of the house next to ours – it meant new people were moving in and it meant that we were to be on our best behavior. The last thing we wanted was another troupe of neighbors who disliked us. So we filled the fire pits behind the house (long story) and mowed the lawn. I cleaned the roof and my wife polished the house, from the floors to the smallest of bathroom accessories. We were not going to let these new neighbors down when they moved in.

When he finally showed up last night, I was shocked to find that there was no family, no children, no pets. It was just one 22 year old male and a carload of stuff he had bought. We had scrubbed the bathroom scales for this guy? I won’t say that I was upset because he was young, but it is an odd feeling seeing someone half your age walk into a brand new home as though he owns the place (and likely he does, looking at the suits he puts on every morning). I couldn’t afford my home until I was 35 and won’t finish paying for it until I’m 65 – it’s an odd world we live in for sure.
