One of the things that I decided a long time ago regarding my wedding was that I was going to do as much of the work for it myself as I could possibly do. I am a highly creative and crafty person and I wanted my wedding to reflect that part of who I am. I wanted to do everything from sewing my own wedding dress to baking my own wedding cake.

Of course, I eventually came to realize that it would take years to complete a wedding if I did everything myself. I ended up having to make some compromises. For example, I realized that I could contribute to the design of my wedding gown without actually having to sew it myself. But one area that I didn’t want to compromise on doing myself was with the wedding invitations. I really wanted those to have a personal touch.

It was definitely a little bit time-consuming to do DIY wedding invitations. First I had to determine what design I wanted to use. I started off wanting to try making really innovative butterfly wedding invitations that had origami elements to them but in the end I chose to go with more contemporary wedding invitations in order to save some time. I was pleased with the results and felt like I’d had a real hand in the development and design of my own special day.
