I am the first to admit that I am the kind of person who gets really focused on what is going on in the moment and often fails to see the bigger picture about things. Because I know this about myself, I’m always particularly excited when I get the opportunity to see life in a new perspective. That was precisely what happened when I started researching a company called Cooper Aerial for a magazine article that I was working on.

The company provides aerial photography services to businesses that do building, mining and surveying of the land. When I first began my research, I was frustrated because I didn’t understand the technical aspects of the work. In reading about the business, I kept stumbling across words like photogrammetry which I’d never heard of before. I wanted to know every detail of what the company did and I couldn’t figure it out.

But then one day, I had all of my research materials spread out on my desk and I realized the amazing power of what businesses like this do. I had printed out several aerial photos from their portfolio and it just struck me how much land is out there that’s actually untouched. Seeing the massive spaces of earth that different industries were making plans for, I suddenly felt really small. And yet, I was also doing my part to spread the word about this so I felt integrated into the fabric of a bigger picture in life. It was one of those moments when I really saw life in a new way.
