The Perfect Office Chair

My husband and I have had the hardest time finding the perfect office chair for him to use in our shared office. The problem is a conflict of interests: He has a picky backside, and gets uncomfortable when sitting for long period of time unless his chair is just right. I, on the other hand, have picky tastes, and my brain hurts when I see ugly modern furniture.
So far we’ve been unable to find an office chair that suits both his backside and my tastes. We live in an older house, and both of us tend to like antique furniture as opposed to modern furniture. Unfortunately, antique chairs were typically not made with ergonomics in mind. Currently, we have a disgustingly ugly black leather deluxe office chair for him to use at his desk, but we are perpetually on the lookout for something that goes better with our decor without sacrificing his comfort in the process.
I guess to give you an idea of what I’m talking about, our shared office is a small bedroom in a two-bedroom bungalow built in 1920, so we have it decorated accordingly. I have a leathertop desk from the 1930s or so, Michael uses a secretary desk (for the extra leg room) from the 1890s, and we have several old bookcases and a rug that looks like an antique style even though it isn’t actually old. So yeah, a modern plastic and black leather office chair looks quite out of place in our office!

Hmmm, that is a challenge. It’s going to be a little hard to look for the perfect office chair.
Where have you looked?

I’m still looking for the perfect desk chair for me, too. The wrong ones break my back and hurt my eye. It’s hard but I know that when I find one that doesn’t do those two things, then it really is the perfect chair.
Great post!

It’s really so hard to look for the perfect one. And having it customized sometimes is not an option because it’s very expensive.
Good luck on our search!

It’s always hard to find that one perfect chair. That’s why when you do, you gotta hold on to it.
Good luck with your search!
