Anyone who suffers from back pain, joint pain or sore muscles can testify to the fact that hydrotherapy is one of the best ways to soothe and combat the pain that comes from these ailments. Wikipedia gives a great history of hydrotherapy, explaining that it was used in several ancient civilizations. Hippocrates even prescribed bathing in spring water to relieve illness. It wasn’t until the late 1800’s that hydrotherapy was established as a formal medical tool. Today, the use of spas and hot tubs for hydrotherapy is widely accepted as a valuable tool in treating issues such as arthritis and low back pain. The main benefit that comes from sitting in a tub full of warm bubbling water is the relaxation factor. One of the reasons the body is able to relax more quickly in spas is due to the bouyancy that occurs when our body is submerged in water. That bouyancy releives pressure on aching joints and muscles. A nice soak in a portable spa aids in the loosening up of those tense muscles by increasing blood flow and circulation, which can aid in the healing process. The swirling water coming from the jacuzzis jets mimic a massage by putting pressure on the muscle to further aid in the relaxation process. How we feel physically can affect how we function in our everday life. A hot tub can aid in providing relaxation to relieve everday stress.
