When I was eighteen, I traded in my little sports car for a brand new truck. I thought I was just about the coolest girl on the planet since I was the only girl I knew who was tough enough to drive a truck instead of a car. But I’m the first to admit that I had some pretty girly moments even when it came to driving my truck.

For example, I decided that I wanted to look at truck toolboxes because I thought it would be cool to have a place in the truck that I could toss my stuff and lock it up securely. Now that doesn’t sound particularly girly, right? But the fact that I was obsessed with finding a truck tool box that was a cool color betrays the true girliness of the experience.

I looked high and low to find truck tool boxes that weren’t silver or black. I looked at everything from trailer tongue utility boxes to tool totes in the hope that different kinds of truck toolboxes would be available in different colors. The search was in vain. I almost thought that I’d have to give in and just go with what was available.

But then I realized that I could get creative with it. A few cans of spray paint later and I had the truck tool box that I wanted for my truck. Sure, it was a little bit girly. But I still loved that truck and the toolbox that went with it!
