Over the holidays I have agreed to go visit my sister and her family in their new home in Carlsbad CA. They recently bought one of the townhomes in Carlsbad because it is close to her husband’s office space in San Diego.

I can’t say that I’m really looking all that forward to them hosting the holidays this year, but what can I do? It really is their turn, and they want to show off their new place. I just dread it because they really are lousy hosts. Don’t get me wrong, I love my whole family, but this always turns into a fiasco. It’s that way with everyone’s family, right?

As soon as we get there, I’m sure the first thing we will notice is that they are both a little drunk. Then we’ll have to endure the rant my sister will go off on about her health issues. Who knows what it will be this time, but it will most likely be something that grosses out the kids. Then they won’t want any help in the kitchen so we won’t eat until several hours after the planned meal time. That means we won’t get back to Los Angeles until sometime around midnight. What can you do though? It’s their turn, so we just need to suck it up and try to have as good a time as we can.
