I Dream of Horse Property

My dream is to someday have horse property. I have a horse and after boarding him for more than a year, I want nothing more than to have him near me, where I can provide for him, and not have to trust someone else to do it. Besides, I just love the thought of walking out my back door and seeing my horse in my own pasture.
Unfortunately, we live in Colorado, and in the Denver real estate market it is difficult to find horse property for a good price. We have tried using an online real estate search, but there just doesn’t seem to be anything within our price range. For instance, the other day we saw a cute little old house on five acres of horse property. It is only a two bedroom house, and it is at least 40 minutes from town, yet they still want $450,000 for it. Yikes!
If we were willing to live anywhere, we could probably find horse property at a much more reasonable price. For instance, if we were looking for foreclosures, Texas has plenty of properties available that are zoned for horses. Unfortunately, although my job as a freelance writer allows me to work anywhere, my husband’s job is very much tied to our living in Denver.
Not that I would want to move, anyway. I have lived in Denver since I was six, and I love it here. So I guess, in the interests of staying here (and my husband keeping a very good job), I’ll have to shelve my dream of owning horse property until we are in a position to spend that much on our home.
