My biggest dream is to own horse property.  It’s not the expense of boarding my horse that I protest to — well, not usually — but the fact that I’m not the one providing his care, and that I have to drive 15 minutes each way in order to see him.  Can you imagine if all I had to do was to walk out my back door?  I would be the one to feed him twice a day, and I could make sure that his area was cleaned to MY standards on a daily basis.  Furthermore I could slip out and visit with him for 15 or 20 minutes whenever I wanted to, without making an entire production out of it.  That would be heaven!

Unfortunately, one look at Carlsbad real estate tells me horse property probably isn’t in the cards for me right now.  I’ll probably be better off looking at townhomes in Carlsbad.  Since I’m a freelance writer, something with a nice home office would be great.  I guess I might have to drive to see my horse, but hey, at least I don’t have to drive to work — my commute is from my bed to my laptop in the next room!
