What You Need for a Koi Pond

I have always wanted to have a koi pond in my yard for my family to sit and watch as those big beautiful creatures glide from one edge of the pond to the other. However, we never had the room to construct one before. Fortunately, we recently purchased a home with a sizable backyard and one of the first things I put on the agenda was to build the koi pond we dreamed of, but we really didn’t know where to start.
After I started looking at everything we needed, I realized this was going to be a little more complicated than I anticipated. It isn’t just a hole with fish in it. There are pumps, valves, pipe, and a flow meter required to monitor how the system is operating. I knew I could get most of the items at our local building supply, but where does someone buy equipment that monitors water flow measurement? I was surprised to find that many of the items I had never heard of were not only easy to find on the internet but also much less expensive.
It probably took me a little longer than most to build and it did cost more than I thought it would, however I finally have a beautiful completed pond in our backyard. If I had it to do over again, I might have consulted with a professional who knows more about things like a mass flow meter or an ultra violet sterilizer.
