My Experiments with Technology

I’ve never been big on technology.  I am the old fashioned sort of businessman who would rather have my company send out flyers or purchase air time on my local TV station - things that give me tangible benefits.  I like seeing my company’s name and business ideals printed out on smooth paper.   I like watching the reactions of all around me as they listen to an ad jingle the agency composed for my brand of bedding.

With changing times, I have been forced by my sons to invest in internet advertising, but there’s still something about a good old fashioned mailing service  that gives me comfort.  When you have mails that are printed out by my 4 color printing North Carolina company, you have full color, glossy, promotional materials with glossy images and jump-right-at-you colors.  Say what you will about internet marketing and conversion rates, but when a customer walks into my store with one of my mailers in his hand to ask about a scheme I am promoting, it’s all the return on marketing investment I need.  Some things simply get better as they get older.  My sons don’t agree, but like I said in the beginning, I am a fashioned man.

Amen to that sentiment! Truly people like us are a dying breed.

People seem to be losing touch with the joy of actually looking at something and feeling it – they seem to prefer things they see on the computer screen.

At this rate, we humans will probably be left only with the senses of sight and (maybe) hearing rather than the regular five senses! (At least – I think that is how Darwin’s theory goes!) I can’t think of anything sadder!
