Time to Catch Up on Visiting Places I Missed?

When I lived in California, I visited a whole lot of the state, but there were many many places I never got to, and now I kind of regret it.  For instance, I never visited Yosemite.  I also never made it to Catalina Island.  But I also never crossed the border into Tijuana, Mexico, which I think would have been pretty neat to see.

I’m in a San Diego, California hotel right now, and I’m debating whether to just go for it and visit Tijuana.

There are so many beautiful places to visit right here in San Diego, but it’s almost a matter of principle that I go down there.  I hear there are pretty good deals to be had.  But I’m not only afraid that I’ll be disappointed, (after all, there’s an awful lot of Mexican culture up here now,) I’m afraid I’ll be in danger.  Crime below the border has become so significant that the State Department has issued warnings about travelling there.  And I’d be all by myself.

Still, I regret never visiting Tijuana, and I really want to go.  I never went while here because my first husband thought it was too dirty.  He also thought San Francisco was too gay to visit, and Yosemite was too crowded to visit.  And he thought doing the glass-bottom boat tour to Catalina would be a waste of money because the water is too murky to look down into anyway.  What a fun guy he was.
