It is so expensive!

Who would have thought that the average college costs would be well beyond my yearly income? It will be interesting to discover what the next few years hold since the economy is in such a bad state. I truly hope we see the end of money-crunch soon.
How will families continue affording college when so many people are losing their homes in the mortgage debacle? I wonder if states will decrease college tuition to make a higher education available to more people. When I graduated from high school it seemed that going to college was a given assumption. Today, however, it appears that more families are struggling with the cost of providing the next level of schooling for their children.
I read in the Washington Post that there is the desire to have a five billion dollar stimulus plan for education. I am not certain if Educational Secretary Arne Duncan intends that only for the public grade schools. Will the stimulus money be used in education for grades kindergarten through twelfth or will college students also benefit from the plan through more grants and tuition reductions? I am excited about President Obama’s administration however I am really unclear regarding the plans to help our young and upcoming citizens.
