2 Reasons to Go to Chef School

Ask anyone that likes to eat and they will tell you there is artistry in food. Artistry in food takes place in two ways:
1) Although it may not be hard for foods to taste “good” the difference between “good” and “great” is huge. If you want to hit the “great” level, you need to have every ingredient perfected, each with its own use and the exact right portion added to the meal.
2) Food that looks gross often tastes gross, not because the food is actually gross but because our brains tell us that food that does not look desirable must not actually be desirable.
That is why, if you plan on cooking for a living, a culinary education is so important. Culinary training is not simply the act of telling you which ingredients go where. It is an art school in the food industry – something that provides you with the in depth artistic look at food in addition to the well known taste and factual education. Cooking schools are not just designed to help you memorize food facts and flavors, but to tap into the creative processes that are there to ensure that good food becomes great food for every food artist.
